My love of pop-culture, especially of the nostalgic variety, brought me to the Chiller Theater, a gathering of Oscar winners, ex-child-stars, sitcom survivors, and cult icons, multiple times over the past few years. Twice yearly, fans flock to this convention and spend their days waiting on long lines to take a picture with, or get a signed 8×10 glossy from their favorite stars. I’ve never been an autograph collector…I collect a different type of souvenir–faces.
This past October, 2011, I made the trek to Parsippany, NJ, to visit the latest Chiller, and, along for the ride was, Amy Finkel, who’s affection for obscure cinema and celebs more than rival my own.
As a portrait photographer, Chiller Theater has provided me with a kind of kid-in-a-candy-store feeling as I manage to capture the faces of such iconic personalities as (in order of appearance in the gallery above):
